BG Pack was founded in 1996 and has been part of the PFM Group since 2001. The Bergamo-based company has earned an international reputation for high-tech horizontal and vertical packaging machines for the production of special flexible packaging formats. At the top of the range is the Vetta, a vertical form, fill and seal machine capable of producing up to 30 different types of pouches, including “doy-style” pouches with zippers, “doy-style” pouches with adhesive strips for resealing, and PFM’s own Steelo-Pack, a block-bottom pouch in which the four corners at the edge are heat-sealed to improve rigidity and appearance. BG Pack also builds multi-crimper form-fill-seal machines, particularly for long dwell time in MAP cheese packages, and other custom form-fill-seal machines for special applications, including bags that can be resealed by various means. BG Pack’s innovative design and application is exemplified by the fact that 80 percent of the company’s production is currently custom. The main markets for BG Pack are Europe, Eastern Europe, the Middle East and the United States. Maintenance, which is integrated into PFM, is carried out by a team of constantly updated technical personnel, who also provide remote maintenance via modem or the Internet. Over the past three years, the company’s revenue has grown 15 percent annually. Annually, 4 percent of sales are reinvested in research and development.
